Side Hustles That Pay Daily: 8 Gig Apps and What Instant Cash-Out Costs
The side hustles that pay daily are mostly gig apps: delivery, rideshare, and shift work. DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, Instacart, and Instawork all let you move your earnings to a debit card the same day you work, usually for a fee of $1.25 to $1.99 per cash-out or a percentage of the payout. Each app also has a free option, either weekly pay or its own debit card. Below is what each one charges according to its own help pages, which jobs pay in a couple of days instead, and how to keep the fees from eating your earnings.
One thing to know up front: "pays daily" describes when you get the money, not how much. The work pays the same per hour whether you cash out tonight or on Wednesday.
Side hustles that pay daily: the gig apps
DoorDash (food delivery)
DoorDash pays Dashers weekly by default for everything done Monday to Sunday, and the deposit usually lands in 2 to 3 days, per its When do Dashers get paid help page. If you want it sooner, Fast Pay lets you cash out once per day for a $1.99 fee to a debit card (prepaid cards don't work), according to the Dasher pay page. Fast Pay is subject to eligibility and approval.
The free route is DoorDash Crimson, a bank account DoorDash offers to Dashers. The same pay page says Crimson deposits earnings after every dash with no fee.
Uber and Uber Eats
Uber's Instant Pay sends your available earnings to a debit card or bank account up to 6 times a day. Uber's Setting up Instant Pay help article lists a $1.75 fee per cash-out (free in NYC, where it's limited to once a day) and a $1 minimum. Uber's own Instant Pay driver page shows $1.25 for a personal debit card, so the two pages don't agree. Check the Wallet tab in the Driver app for the fee on your account.
Both pages say the Uber Pro Card gives free automatic payouts after every trip.
Lyft
Lyft's version is Express Pay. Its Express Pay help page says each transfer costs $1.75, you need at least $6.75 in earnings to cash out, and you can do it up to five times every 24 hours. The fee is waived if you're paid to a Lyft Direct debit card.
Instacart (grocery shopping and delivery)
Instacart shoppers can use Instant Cashout after a batch. The fee has been changing. In a June 2025 post, Instacart said its new Shopper Rewards Card would roll out to US shoppers in two phases (October 2025 and April 2026). With that card, earnings can be deposited after every batch at no cost. Once the card is available to you, cashing out instantly to any other bank account costs $1.50. Weekly direct deposit stays free. Look at the Earnings tab in the shopper app to see which terms apply to you.
Instawork (shift work)
Instawork fills one-off shifts in warehouses, events, and food service. Its Instapay option pays to a debit card, with funds "typically" available within an hour, according to Instawork's payment settings page. The fee works differently from the delivery apps: 5% of each payout, or a flat $5 in California. You can only switch to Instapay seven days after your second shift. Weekly pay is always free.
A 5% fee sounds small, but on a $120 shift that's $6, which is more than three DoorDash Fast Pay cash-outs.
Side hustles that pay in a few days
These aren't daily, but they're close, and people often lump them in.
- Pet sitting and dog walking on Rover. Rover's sitter page says you get paid two days after you complete a service.
- Odd jobs on Taskrabbit. Furniture assembly, TV mounting, moving help. Taskrabbit's pricing post from August 2025 says most payouts arrive within 1 to 3 business days through Stripe.
- Selling things you own. Facebook Marketplace or a local buy-and-sell group, where buyers often pay cash in person. You're limited by what you have to sell, so it's a one-time boost more than a side hustle.

How to keep instant pay fees from adding up
Say you cash out $1.75 every day you drive, five days a week. That's about $35 a month gone before gas. A few habits help:
- Use the app's free card if you need daily pay. Crimson, the Uber Pro Card, Lyft Direct, and the Instacart Shopper Rewards Card all exist to make daily payouts free. Read the card's own terms before you sign up.
- Cash out once at the end of the day, not after every order. The fee is per transfer, not per dollar (except Instawork).
- Build a small buffer. If you can float one week, weekly pay is free on every app above.
- Count your costs. Delivery and rideshare pay doesn't include gas or wear on your car. Track your miles from day one.
Watch for "daily pay" scams
"Get paid today" is a common hook in fake job offers. The FTC's February 2026 alert on side hustle scams names three signs: big money promised for little effort, pressure to accept right now before the gig "disappears," and any request that you pay for training, equipment, or expenses first. The FTC's line is that no legitimate gig makes you pay to get the job. Its job scams guide covers more patterns. Download gig apps only from the official app stores, and never send money to someone who says they're "advancing" your pay.
Taxes on daily gig income
Gig apps treat you as self-employed in most cases, so nothing is withheld. The IRS says you owe self-employment tax (15.3%) once your net self-employment earnings reach $400 in a year, on top of regular income tax. Getting paid daily makes it easy to spend all of it, so move a share of each payout into a separate account. This isn't tax advice for your situation, so ask a tax professional if you're unsure.
If you can wait for the money
Daily pay is useful when you need cash this week. The trade-off is that it stops when you stop working. If you also want something that can keep earning while you're not logged into an app, some side hustles pay nothing for months and then pay on their own. A faceless YouTube channel is one example. Tools like VidPuff turn a title into a long-form narrated video that you review stage by stage before publishing, but it still takes months to reach YouTube's monetization threshold. Our YouTube side hustle guide covers how long that usually takes.

FAQ
What side hustle pays the same day?
Delivery and rideshare apps are the most reliable. DoorDash Fast Pay, Uber Instant Pay, Lyft Express Pay, and Instacart Instant Cashout all let you move earnings to a debit card the same day you work, usually for a fee. Instawork's Instapay typically pays within an hour of a shift once you're eligible.
Which gig app has free instant pay?
Most of them, if you use their own card or account. DoorDash Crimson, the Uber Pro Card, the Lyft Direct debit card, and Instacart's Shopper Rewards Card all offer free payouts after each job, according to each company's pages.
Are apps that pay daily legit?
The big gig apps are real companies with published pay terms. The risk is fake job offers that promise daily pay by text or social media and then ask you to pay something first. The FTC says no legitimate gig makes you pay to get the job.
Do I have to pay taxes on side hustles that pay daily?
Yes. How often you're paid doesn't change it. If your net self-employment earnings are $400 or more in a year, the IRS says you owe self-employment tax on top of income tax.
