Overlooked YouTube Niches With Real Advertiser Demand (2026 Data)

VidPuff Team·Oct 4, 2026·3 min read

First, a caveat. Nobody has published a reliable study of YouTube earnings at the level of individual micro-niches like "HVAC training" or "LLC formation." The only study we trust on niche earnings, AIR Media-Tech's analysis of 300 monetized channels, stops at 13 broad categories. We found several articles quoting figures like "$30 to $50 RPM" for specific sub-niches, but none named a sample, a date range, or a source. We aren't repeating those numbers.

Instead we used two things we could check ourselves. We pulled Google Ads cost-per-click, search volume, and keyword difficulty for a set of topics through DataForSEO in October 2026. Then we searched YouTube for the most promising ones to see what's actually there.

CPC is not RPM. It's what advertisers pay for a click on a Google search ad, not what a YouTube creator earns per thousand views. It is a solid signal of how much an audience is worth to advertisers, though, and many of the same advertisers also buy YouTube ads.

Keyword difficulty is a 0 to 100 estimate of how hard it is to rank organically. It's a separate figure from Google Ads' "competition" rating, which only measures how many advertisers bid. The two often disagree. Medicare Advantage, for example, is rated low on ad competition but scores 69 on difficulty, most likely because large insurers already dominate the search results.

The rows worth a closer look combine a high CPC with low difficulty: LLC formation ($70 CPC, difficulty 23), structured settlements ($46, 17), car donation ($38, 13), and asset protection trusts ($12, 14). The standout is HVAC technician training: 14,800 searches a month, a $10 CPC, and a difficulty score of 1.

What's on YouTube right now

To check whether these gaps are real, we searched YouTube for two of the strongest topics in October 2026.

"HVAC technician training." The top result is a four-year-old video from AC Service Tech LLC with 1.5 million views. It's a strong video, filmed as on-the-job instruction. The next is a six-year-old personal vlog from Yung HVAC. We didn't find a recent, well-produced explainer channel covering the topic, despite the search volume.

"Term life insurance explained." The top two results were a Ramsey Network clip with about 36,000 views and a lecture-style video with about 63,000. Both are several years old. The closely related Google search "term life insurance quote" gets 60,500 searches a month at a $64 CPC, so those view counts are low for the demand.

That's a snapshot from two searches, not a study, but it matches the keyword data: real demand, and not much recent content meeting it.

Why these get skipped

Insurance, trusts, settlements, and trade certifications aren't topics most people think of when they picture a YouTube channel. They take care to get right, and they don't feel as fun to make as true crime or gaming. That's a big part of why advertiser demand runs ahead of the content supply.

They also suit a faceless explainer format well: a clear narrator, diagrams, and illustrated examples, with no need for a presenter. If you're weighing niches more broadly, our faceless niche rankings look at competition as well as payout.

Methodology

  • CPC, search volume, and keyword difficulty: DataForSEO, US market, pulled October 2026. Keyword difficulty is DataForSEO's organic ranking estimate, not the Google Ads competition rating.
  • YouTube observations: manual searches in October 2026. Channel names, view counts, and upload ages are as they appeared at the time. Results will change, so check again before choosing a niche.
  • What we didn't do: we found no source with a disclosed method for micro-niche YouTube RPM, so we haven't estimated one. For broad categories with real data, see our RPM and CPM by niche post.
